School Council

The school council is made up of 2 children from year 1 to year 6.  They meet regularly with school leaders and governors to discuss their views of the school and their learning.

The school council last met on 10th May 2019 and discussed a number of issues.

The children discussed points that were raised at the last meeting and what actions had been taken.

  • At the last meeting the children said that they would like to have more sports available. It was explained that after May half term there would be lots of new after school clubs taking place, some of which would be sport. We decided that at the next meeting we would discuss how clubs were going and whether the children had any more ideas for successful after school clubs.
  • The children had also raised the idea of having a school pet. We discussed applying for a reading dog to come and visit our school to help children with their reading. The children thought that this would be a good idea to pursue.
  • We decided that the school council board would have a place where children could write their ideas for the school council to discuss at their meetings as well as discussing ideas in class.
  • It was decided that to celebrate Walk to School week we would take part in Happy Shoe Day. The money raised from this event would go on new playground equipment as it was felt that this was needed.
